CERIDES – EUC coordinated the final pilot demonstration of the project RESPOND-A, organised at the Port of Valencia in Spain. This EU funded project which brings together people from 34 organisations in 13 countries aims to improve the capabilities of first responders through the use of innovative technologies, some of which were presented and tested during the final pilot demonstration in the presence of project partners, first responders, organisations, local stakeholders and the media.
Cutting-edge interactive and immersive technologies such as sensors, robots and drones were impressively demonstrated as part of an oil spill and fire scenario at the Port.
Project coordinator and director of CERIDES professor George Boustras led a team of six experts and associates, while CERIDES co-director Professor Christos Dimopoulos coordinated the evaluation of the pilot demo.
The final meeting of this Horizon 2020 project will take place in Nicosia.
