Dr. Christiana Markou, Assistant Professor of the School of Law and a researcher at CERIDES, selected as member of the Expert Group to the EU Observatory on the Online Platform Economy

Dr. Christiana Markou, Assistant Professor of the School of Law and a researcher at the CERIDES Centre of Excellence in Innovation and Technology has, following a highly competitive selection process, been selected by the European Commission to be one of the fifteen members of the Expert Group to the EU Observatory on the Online Platform Economy.

The Expert Group supports the Commission in monitoring the evolution of the online platform economy for evidence-based and problem-focused policymaking. The Expert group advises the Commission on the main trends of the online platform economy, analyses potentially harmful practices within the online platform economy and assists the Commission in the preparation of its annual work programme regarding these issues. It is also tasked to analyse the evolution of policy measures related to the online platform economy in the Member States and communicate with other relevant experts or centres of excellence upon the request and supervision of the Commission. It produces a final report at the end of its mandate the main findings of which undergo public consultation before publication.
