CERIDES Director Prof. George Boustras visited China between 15-23 September. Prof. George Boustras was invited to deliver lectures at the School of Chemical Machinery and Safety of the Technical University of Dalian (DUT). DUT is ranked at 601-800 at Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The university comprises a total of 14 colleges offering around 30 undergraduate degree programmes between them. Located in the seaport city of Dalian in northeast China, the university is home to around 36,000 students.
Prof. George Boustras delivered the Opening Keynote Speech at APSS2019 (Asia Pacific Symposium on Safety 2019). The theme of the Keynote was “on the Interface of Safety and Security”. APSS was inaugurated in Gyeongju, Korea in 1999 as the first international meeting on industrial safety covering Asia and Pacific regions. Since then, except 2015, APSS has been successfully held in every two years, with more than 200 scientists and engineers of relevant academic areas attending each time.
