UNESCO Chair in Disaster Risk Reduction and Societal Safety in South Eastern Mediterranean as part of its outreach activities and in collaboration with Airbus and the Embassy of the French Republic in Nicosia organized a one day seminar in the current challenges and prospects of aerial firefighting. In the aftermath of one of the most catastrophic summers for Europe and the Mediterranean, the seminar was attended by all stakeholders of the Republic of Cyprus.
HE the Ambassador of the French Republic in Cyprus Madame Clélia Chevrier Kolačko, opened the seminar with emphasis on the ever growing relationship between the two countries and the importance of the use of advanced, modern technologies in disaster reduction, prevention and management.
the seminar included theoretical presentations, illustrations of the use of modern technologies and concluded with a discussion of how the landscape will be formed in the years to come.
