CERIDES – Centre of Excellence in Risk & Decision Sciences had the privilege to welcome the Head of the European Security and Defence College Mr. Holger Osterrieder who visited the premises of CERIDES European University Cyprus accompanied by officials of the Υπουργείο Άμυνας Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας – Ministry of Defence Cyprus, namely the Director of the Cyprus Security & Defence Academy Mr. Symeon Zambas, the Military Training Manager of the ESDC Mr. Christoforos Christoforou and Mr. Moritz Herzberg Strategic Adviser at the ESDC.
ESDC is a network bringing together civilian and military institutes, colleges, academies, universities, institutions and other actors dealing with security and defence policy issues within European Union as identified by its Member States.
In the presence of the Vice Rectors of the European University Cyprus, Prof. Loizos Symeou and Prof. Marios Vryonides, the Director of CERIDES Prof. George Boustras Research and Strategy Manager Pierantonios Papazoglou and Operational Manager Dr. Cleo Varianou Mikellidou had the opportunity to present thoroughly to Mr. Osterrieder the multifaceted work carried out at CERIDES and the main areas covered by the Centre’s activity.
Views were exchanged on how cooperation between the two institutions could be enhanced especially with regard to the opportunities that the #ESDC offers in the European Doctoral School on the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), an initiative by volunteer institutions and the ESDC to develop a range of training and provide support for doctoral research on the CSDP in the #EU.
Both Parties agreed to further deepen their mutual cooperation.
