European University Cyprus / CERIDES is happy to announce the official start of the Cyprus GOVSATCOM Study (CGS) project. The kick-off meeting of the project took place at CERIDES premises on Friday the 10th of November 2023. The project is funded through the 7th ESA (European Space Agency) PECS (Plan for European Cooperating States) Call.
The kick-off meeting of CGS was attended by the Project Officer Mr Michael Hadjitheodosiou (Satellite & Telecomm System Engineer at European Space Agency) and Mr. Kendeas Karantonis, Hellas Sat Space Programs Manager.
The aim of the project is to form a definition study that will assist the efficient integration of Cyprus into GOVSATCOM (European Union Governmental Satellite Communications) and IRIS2 (
The aim of the project is also to prepare the ground so that the local industry can participate in these programmes’ evolution. To achieve this, the project consortium will seek synergies with existing initiatives on quantum cryptography, such as CYQCI (co-funded by the Digital Europe Program and the Republic of Cyprus), as well as the CyOGS and MOGS-CyX projects that are also funded through the 6th ESA PECS program.
