Enhancing Fire Safety – SAFED E3 ‘Multiplier Event’

CERIDES, in cooperation with the Cyprus Fire Service, successfully organised and implemented the E3 Multiplier Event ‘SAFED – Μία Καινοτόμος Πλατφόρμα Πυροσβεστικής Εκπαίδευσης’ as part of the Erasmus+ Project SAFED (Safety, Fire & Design: Simulation for Fire Safety Training), on the 8th of February 2021. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, the event took place fully online using the ZOOM platform. The main aim of the event was to present the activities and the products of the SAFED project to industrial and societal stakeholders from the country of Cyprus. The event was introduced by the Director of the Cyprus Fire Service, Mr. Polys Hadjivasileiou.

Dr. Christos Dimopoulos, co-Director of CERIDES, and researcher of the SAFED project, presented an overview of the project’s aims, objectives, and implementation stages, and provided examples of the project’s training activities using videos captured during the project’s training exercises. Subsequently, Mr. Andreas Kettis, spokesman of the Cyprus Fire Service, presented a comprehensive overview of the Service’s activities and results during the calendar year 2020. Finally, Ms. Ilona – Elefteryja Lasica, CERIDES Research Associate in the SAFED project, provided a virtual tour of the SAFED online training platform which is used in the project’s pilot training activities that are currently implemented in Spain, Cyprus, and Greece.

The event was attended by 58 stakeholders in total, both professionals employed in organisations relevant to the project’s application field, and individual citizens with a personal interest in the same field.
