Research Project Title: OenoWatch
OenoWatch aims to study, develop, implement and pilot a holistic phytosanitary and plant protection system based on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and a series of cutting-edge technologies, as well as the establishment of a Competence Center for Precision Viticulture. During the course of the project, a prototype UAS will be constructed with remote sensing indicators from multi-spectral sensors. Through OenoWatch, we will study, develop, and implement in pilot operation a holistic phytosanitary and plant protection Decision Support System using unmanned aerial vehicles, novel sensors and a series of other state-of-the-art technology.
For the implementation of the above project, we are seeking to recruit:
- A Research Fellow
- A Research Associate
Requirements
- Participate/manage cross-discipline project teams for internal or project level activities
- Planning and Tracking project schedule and major outcomes (incl. deliverables and milestones)
- Supervision, coordination and/or execution of project related or non-project related technical tasks
- Handling of communication both within the group and with external partners (academia/research, industrial, public authorities)
- Reporting on both technical and management level on the projects on the level of deliverables, technical and management reports Responsible for managing the complete life cycle of idea->proposal->project->delivery of final outcome
Qualifications and Skills:
- For the Research Fellow position – BSc/MSc/PhD degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering or similar degree
- At least 3 years work experience in related sector
- Ability to manage and control large scale projects involving multi-disciplinary teams respecting project objectives, requirements and constraints
- Ability to coordinate local teams and consortia to fulfill the project objectives
- Ability to analyse, interpret as well as communicate data

- For the Research Associate position – BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or similar degree
- Good programming skills and knowledge of programming development tools, operating systems, programming concepts
- Experience in embedded systems.
- Willingness to continuously learn and apply new tools, 3rd party APIs.
Both posts require:
- Ability to work with agreed deadlines
- Fluent oral and writing English skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Excellent command of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
General
- A genuine interest in the areas of interest of OenoWatch. Previous experience is highly appreciated;
- Good communication skills and good proficiency in English (both oral and written);
- Be located in Cyprus and be willing to travel to the test side (in Cyprus).
- Ability to function as a team member, work independently and take responsibility for own research goals.
